Description
1951 Ford Tudor Sedan
The 1949 through 1951 Fords earned the name of being the Shoebox Ford series. From the styling point of view the 1949 to 1951 Fords used somewhat slab sided bodies, large wrap around bumpers, modest amounts of trim and sported grilles that were adorned with bullets. All of these styling modifications helped make these cars stand out from the other on the road at that time. In 1951 the model line had a slight styling change which included a new style grille that now had two bullets, a redesigned dashboard and for the first time Ford made available its first automatic transmission called the Ford-O-Matic three speed. These 1949 to 1951 postwar automobiles, aka the Shoebox Ford, helped keep the Ford Motor Company at or near the top of the sales charts giving Chevrolet a run for their money and today remain iconic classic cars. The 1951 Ford Tudor Sedan weighed 2,995 pounds, had a wheelbase of 110 inches and was 196.4 inches in total length.
