1750 Isaac Meier Homestead
The Isaac Meier Homestead is located in Myerstown, PA. This two and one-half story home was built around 1750 and the one and one-half story wing pre-dates the main house by approximately ten years. When the main house was completed, the smaller original wing of the house was converted into the kitchen. The walls are constructed of nicely dressed limestone that is two-feet in thickness and every window has an arch of eleven stones located above them. The home has five fireplaces and the kitchen area has two sixteen-foot wide walk in fireplaces separated by a brick floor laid out in a herringbone pattern. This wonderful home is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks and is also listed on the Pennsylvania Historic Register. This historic home is also known as The Old Fort, the Isaac Myer Homestead and Isaac Myers Homestead. This house is located on PA Route 501 about 250 feet north of the Tulpehocken Creek in the Myerstown Community Park.
