Description
1887 Charleston Fire Station, Charleston, South Carolina, located at the corner of Meeting and Wentworth streets. The beautiful 1887 brick fire station is the home to Engine 102 and Engine 103 and to the fire fighters that help to protect the citizens of Charleston. This station was originally constructed as a double double house and was an extremely important station due to it being centrally located. At one time it housed four steam engine companies. In 1974 this station became the Headquarters for the Department and remained so until November of 2013. This image of the station was taken from the Wentworth Street side of the double double station house.
