Description
1962 Nash Metropolitan Hardtop
This Metropolitan is still in service and used by the owner as a daily driver. While originally called the Nash Metropolitan, AMC announced that it was dropping the Nash and Hudson brand names in September of 1957 and the little Metro was then marketed under the Metropolitan name only and was sold through Rambler dealers. The Nash and Hudson Grille medallions were discontinued approximately October 1956 and were replaced with the M style medallion - many people still continue to call these little gems Nash Metropolitans. Production of the Metropolitans ended in April of 1961, however since it took quite some time for the cars to be shipped from the Austin Longbridge factory to the U.S. distribution network that actual dates on the vehicle titles were not the same as the production date. Longbridge, is an area of southwest Birmingham, England where Austin produced Austin, Morris, British Leyland, MR Rovers and the Nash Metropolitan automobiles. In 1962 it is said that only 412 of these cars were imported into the United Staes and this vehicle is one out of that batch.
