Before the construction of the Aladdin begin, the site it sits upon was used as a livery for wagons that came overland from the St. Johns area and in 1918 it was a Ford dealership that sold Model Ts.
The Aladdin Theater is an architecturally beautiful historic theater that can be found in Cocoa, Florida. Constructed in the Italian Renaissance style of architecture, this structure cost approximately 80,000.00 when it was built in 1924. The main part of the framing is constructed of heart of pine wood, the brick facade features elegant tall windows and decorative arches as well as an ornate copper marquee.
This theater, opened on August 18, 1924, is also known as The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse and called by many Broadway on Brevard. When it originally opened the Aladdin was showing silent movies and later moved into the talkie era of movies. The productions being presented at the theater now have a performer base that is hundreds upon hundreds of volunteers deep who take part in all of the shows presented to the public each year. This gorgeous structure was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on October 17, 1991.
