Elizabethtown, Kentucky
Photo Taken: October, 2013
Summit School opened on July 7, 1892 as a one room schoolhouse and was described as the finest school in the county at one point in time. When opened, 80 to 100 students attended the facility, however by the end of World War II attendance was down to as few as 15 students. The school finally closed its doors in 1953 and at one time was used for the storage of hay.
Since this image was captured, the Summit School has been renovated and restored and once again open to the public with limited tours available each month.
