This 1930s era service station is very reminiscent of what just about every town had in it during the golden days of automobile service. These fantastic local service stations almost always had a mechanic on duty along with at least one or more service bays equipped to handle most of the common problems drivers could encounter in their daily lives. These old time service stations also sold gasoline in cents per gallon and the old pumps had to be retrofit when the price of gasoline eventually exceeded one dollar per gallon. Think how great it would be to have gasoline back at the cents per gallon price.
Most of these vintage stations were staffed with people that wore nice looking uniforms, cars were greeted at the pump by the driveway bell announcing that you were there and the friendly attendant would always wash your windshield, check the wiper blades, check your oil, check you battery as well as water and brake fluid. Many times would even check the air in your tires. When was the last time you got that service at a gasoline station.
These old vintage stations were also a great place to get directions if you were travelling through a new area and they almost always provided free road maps to help you along your journey.
These vintage service stations also in many cases provided a place for the local gearheads to gather, hangout, hold meetings, have small car shows and in some cases a place to work on their cars. A little local community gathering spot for like minded people. Ahhhh, those good old days.
