Description
1889 Courthouse
Osceola County Seat
Kissimmee, Florida
Dedicated May 6, 1890
Romanesque Revival Style
The beautiful red brick Osceola County courthouse was the oldest Florida courthouse in active use until it was replaced by the new courthouse across the street in 2001. The old courthouse is still very active and retains the honor of being the oldest courthouse in Florida that remains in full daily use for judicial purposes. The courthouse was dedicated on May 6, 1890, was constructed in the Romanesque Revival style and carried a price tag of about 30,000.00. This beautiful structure, surrounded by very large and mature Oak trees is considered by many to be the most attractive courthouse in Florida. This structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been featured in several movies.
