1937 GMC
Pickup Truck
Engine Side Panel Detail Image
This is a detail image of the engine compartment side panel and General Motors Truck plaque
attached to it. The 1937 GMC pickup was a very good looking truck in the art-deco style and was what could be called the first GMC that could be called streamlined. The truck had a barrel shaped grille with horizontal bars, a vertical bar central area with the theme of the grille repeated on the sides of the hood. This truck also had a one piece windshield along with a handsome dipped front bumper. This particular design remained consistent with very few changes through the 1939 production year.
The 1937 GMC pickup was distinctively styled, was smooth running and very reliable for a prewar truck, carried the prestige of the GMC truck marque and was relatively not expensive. With regard to being collectible, they are somewhat hard to find, body and engine parts are hard to locate, they have a very limited appreciation potential and they carry much less collector interest versus the Chevrolet pickup trucks of the same time period.
