Artist's Description
1939 Buick Century Convertible
The model name of Buick Century was used by the Buick Motor Division of GM for a series of upscale performance vehicles built from 1936 to 1942, then from 1954 to 1958 and finally from 1973 to 2005. The Century name came to be when Buick was in the process of building their first production automobile that would be able to reach a speed of 100 miles per hour. This particular Buick Century convertible is a First Generation car and that series ran from 1936 through 1942. The Buick Century produced during this time period was powered by a 320 cubic inch engine producing 165 horsepower and made them the fastest Buicks of that era and more than capable of sustained speeds of 100 miles per hour.
