1961 Chevrolet Corvair 95 Rampside Truck

The Corvair 95 series of trucks got this designation because of their 95-inch wheelbase, versus the passenger cars which had a108 inch wheelbase. The Corvair 95 Series joined the Chevrolet lineup for the 1961 model year and like the passenger cars featured a rear-mounted, air-cooled, 80hp flat-six engines that delivered power to the rear wheels through a three-speed synchromesh transaxle. The Corvair offered more power than the Volkswagen truck had and could be purchased with a Chevrolet two-speed Powerglide or a four-speed manual transmission. The Corvair Rampside gross vehicle weight rating of 4,700 pounds meant that they could handle a load of up to three-quarters of a ton. Sales of the Corvair 95 started out well however by 1965 their run was over with no vehicles being sold during 1965.
