1963 Buick Riviera
The 1963 Buick Riviera was General Motors first entry into the prestige automobile niche and was highly praised when it made is debut. The body shell was distinct to it and was a somewhat unusual departure for a General Motors product. Unlike its GM counterparts, the Oldsmobile Toronado and Cadillac Eldorado, the Riviera was a front engine and rear wheel drive vehicle and remained so until 1979.
Introduced on October 4, 1962, as a 1963 production product, the Riviera came equipped with a 401 cubic inch, 325 horsepower nailhead V8 engine, dual exhaust and the turbine drive transmission. During December of 1962 buick made available a 425 cubic inch nailhead V8 rated at 340 horsepower as an option
