Artist's Description
1968 Dodge Super Bee 2 Door Coupe
The Dodge Super Bee is based on the Dodge Coronet two door coupe and was in production from 1968 to 1970. In 1971 the Super Bee designation was moved to the Dodge Charger platform instead of using the Dodge Coronet as the base. This car was basically the renaming of the Road Runner under the Dodge brand label and was Dodges low price entry into the muscle car market. The Super Bee had a one inch longer wheelbase, was about 65 pounds heavier, had larger rear wheel wells, a bumblebee tail stripe, fancier grille and taillight ornamentation.
The 1968 Dodge Super Bee could be ordered with the base 335 horsepower 383 cubic inch engine or the 425 horsepower 426 Hemi engine and was only available as a two door coupe. Adding the 426 Hemi to the order package added thirty three percent more cost to the price of the car - a pretty expensive option to have the Hemi and only 125 1968 Dodge Super Bees were sold with the 425 horsepower Hemi.
