This striking bright white 1980 Doval Shadow Convertible Roadster is for sure an attention getter at the local car show. The Ford V8 engine is situated more than 30 inches back in a heavily strengthened and modified Doval chassis that provides for a near perfect 50/50 weight balance providing for fantastic road handling capabilities with no vehicle sway. Safety was a huge consideration when this car was built. The chassis was reinforced with two inch by four inch steel tubes that had quarter inch thick walls and the doors were strengthened with large steel beams. The firewall and floor was made from 18 gauge steel, fully welded and coated with heat resistant material. The massive heat treated spring steel bumpers with their bumper shock absorbing system was fully DOT approved.
The body is comprised of hand shaped 16 gauge aluminum with a boat tail rear design feature. The body was painted with 34 coats of lacquer, hand sanded between coats providing for a visually amazing finish. The body was available in four colors and pin striping was done in 24 karat gold leaf. The exterior had a massive chromed radiator shroud, large classic style headlamps, a long rakish hood, sweeping fenders, and polished stainless steel exhausts. The provided soft convertible top was a hand sewn mohair top for protection from the elements.
