Description
Keuka Lake Morning Sunrise
A major lake in the Finger Lake Region, Keuka Lake is found in the state of New York with the town of Penn Yan located at its northern tip. Keuka Lake is shaped like the letter Y and empties into Seneca Lake, another Finger Lake, via the Keuka Lake Outlet. At one point in time the outlet was actually a developed canal that connected the two lakes. A railroad branch eventually replaced the canal and now the old canal is now utilized as a hiking and cycling trail between the town of Penn Yan and Dresden where Keuka Lake empties into Seneca Lake.
Keuka lake is about 20 miles in length, and anywhere from one half mile to two miles in width. The maximum depth is 186 feet and averages approximately 101 feet. Beautiful recreational lake, boating, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and other water associated sports. The lake has an abundant population of lake trout, bown trout, rainbow trout, landlocked salmon, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and yellow perch making it an ideal area for those interested in the fishing sports.
