Description
Brick And Glass – Vent Windows Of Comfort Station
These are the beautifully styled and crafted movable vent windows (there are six sets of these windows on the station) on a Romanesque Revival style comfort station constructed in 1927. The comfort station is a unique and unaltered specimen of an architectural style that was designed by architect Henry Taylor, and is located on the grand waterfront on the NE Corner of Bayshore Drive and Second Avenue NE in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The 1927 Comfort Station is significant as a rare and unaltered exemplification of the Romanesque Revival style of architecture and comprises less than one percent of the historical buildings in the city as noted during a 1978 and 1986 survey. Two other Romanesque Revival style buildings located in St. Petersburg that were also designed by Henry Taylor are the St. Mary Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and St. Paul's Catholic which were constructed in 1925 and 1929 respectively.
